A transitional garden, a space for family gathering

Family gardener

Vegetalization is at the heart of our architectural vision, a guiding thread that connects mineral and vegetal, density and de-densification, to create a richer and healthier living space. For the Station project, we collaborated with the Pépinère Espaliers, experts in trees and green filters, to bring a unique garden to life. Their expertise guided the selection of tree species and soil, creating a harmonious and sustainable garden, perfectly suited to the client’s needs.
The client’s goal was to design a garden that brings his family together around moments of conviviality and sharing, while also serving as a place for transmission and awareness about environmental choices. The garden becomes a learning space, with a vegetable garden to involve the family in managing natural resources. The existing rainwater cistern is kept, and an external water tank visible to all encourages responsible resource management.
The plot, once entirely mineral, is transformed into a lush, green haven. Multitrunk oaks provide visual privacy, while two hornbeams define the terraces, and apple trees mark the beginning of the vegetable garden. Rainwater is collected to nourish the garden, symbolizing a commitment to sustainable resource management. This project thus becomes a place of transition, where nature and the city coexist in harmony.
