Transformation of a laboratory into an integrated social hosting center

The Van Volxem project renovates a former pharmaceutical laboratory into a Day Care Centre for Les Petits Riens. This place allows the social teams to welcome people in precarious situations in a caring and unconditional setting.
The building offers various spaces: a large exchange room, offices for social workers, showers, rest areas and secure lockers for personal belongings. An internet point is also available.
A multipurpose room, also used as a kitchen, welcomes other associations to reflect together on the challenges of precariousness and then take action.
The renovation was part of a circularity approach, preserving and enhancing the existing ones. The project favours sustainable, warm and durable materials, an approach applied at all stages, right down to the choice of furniture.
The project was recognized for its quality in terms of its circular approach and was awarded by Renolab.
